雅思大作文范文:私家车的利与弊

With the fantastic spur both in industry and ineconomy in China, the number of people who ownprivate cars is on the rise. Some people have boughtcars of their own, and others are planning to buycars. But there have been two quite different viewson this phenomenon.

Some claim that there are many advantagesbrought about by cars. First, the automobileindustry provides jobs for countless workers andstrong support for other industries. Second, ifconditions permit, owning a car can make us work more efficiently. Finally, life will becomemore convenient. A car allows one to move freely and with a car there is no need to wait forthe bus in the cold or under the burning sun.

However, others strongly object to the increase in developing private cars. They hold thatautomobiles will give rise to a series of problems. In the first place, as more and more cars areproduced and run in the street, a large volume of poisonous gas will be given off, polluting theatmosphere and causing actual harm to the health of people. Next, private cars contribute totraffic congestion so greatly that the advantages gained in comfort and freedom are oftencancelled out by the frustration caused by traffic jams. The last problem is the increasingnumber of car accidents that have killed and will kill a lot of people in a friction of a second.

In my opinion, although automobiles have been playing a vital part in the daily activities ofour society, they also bring us numerous troubles such as more serious environmentalpollution, more traffic accidents and more energy consumption. They drink up huge amountsof fuel and throw out huge amounts of pollutants. Traffic accidents kill thousands andthousands of people each year and cripple more. Jams waste our precious time. Therefore I amagainst developing private cars.

雅思大作文范文:是否应限制航空旅行

Air travel, once a privilege of the wealthy, hasbeen gaining popularity worldwide over the last fewdecades. The number of people traveling by air hasbeen growing by leaps and bounds. Someenvironmentalists, however, propose that air travelbe limited, on the ground that it may give rise to aseries of problems, including pollution andexhaustion of the world’s valuable energyresources. To my mind, it does not make muchsense to restrict air travel.

The most important and obvious reason is thatno other vehicle can travel as fast as an airplane. In other words, air travel may be the onlyand easiest option when it comes to long-distance trips. For example, if a student from Chinawishes to go to the United States for further studies, the only means of transportation thatcould send him to the destination is undoubtedly the plane. Also, for people traveling on aregular basis, such as those engaged in transnational business, air travel would mean less timeon the road. This will certainly enable them to better prepare for their future tasks, such asbusiness negotiations, both mentally and physically.

In addition, air travel offers the comfort that cannot be found elsewhere. Most people, who have the experience of traveling by air, are bound to miss the snacks and drinks served onboard, as well as the smiles on the faces of flight attendants. In some cases, you could evenenjoy a favorite movie while on a plane, completely unaware that you are hundreds ofthousands of feet above ground.

Last but not least, it is important to bear in mind that air travel is simply a personal choiceand should be respected. This clearly means that any attempt to restrict air travel would beseen as a violation of human rights and is both groundless and unjustified.

In summary, despite the various problems arising from air travel, it should not be limitedor eliminated. What we should do is to give full play to the function of air travel, by maximizingits benefits while trying to come up with practical solutions to the existing problems, such asdeveloping fuel-efficient airplanes and alternative energy resources.

雅思大作文范文:鼓励公共交通

We are now really ambivalent about private carsbecause they, despite contributing greatly to ourlife, are also the root causes for chains ofaftermaths: intensification of congestion, worsening air quality, and even the decrease ofpublic physique. Being afraid that the situation will gofurther, we are now putting public transportationagain in our sights. However, because of somesubtle reasons, instancing vanity or self-esteem,some of us turn their backs to accepting short-distance buses or interstate coaches. Thus, severalapproaches should be adopted to encourage them.

The re-organization of bus routes and improvement of infrastructure should come first.Local authorities always focus their attention on some “hot spots”, such as downtown, prestige neighborhoods, and the districts with dense population but are deaf to the strongdemands from those “less important” areas, including suburb areas and the ones ofcomplicated geographical conditions, where eventually become “blind spots”. Failing theaccess to public transportation, the grass-roots in these places have perforce to chooseprivate cars. If bettered roads and reformed traffic arrangement allow buses to reach thesepeople and they will not shrug this way off because it is so environmentally-friendly and, moreimportantly, can also ease their economic burden.

Another strategy for stirring the public to use public transportation should be related togovernmental propaganda and some special services should also be provided aboard. Thepractice of France can teach us a lot. The local authorities of Paris organize an activity called“Busing Your Dream”, the mileages of a passenger will be exchanged to his credit and thiscredit will be very helpful for a passenger to apply for personal loan or jobs because banks andcompanies believe that the citizen loving environment is trustworthy, and vice versa.Meanwhile, bus companies also provide weather forecast and exclusive news. It is obviousthat the carrot and stick approach is also powerful in this aspect.

In conclusion, the popularity of public transportation can only be fulfilled by thegovernment and public, thus, the key to this problem is that the two parties must spendcollective efforts, both in hardware and awareness.
