这首已流传了一个世纪的歌曲，人们对于它的诞生地依旧颇多争议。有人认为歌中唱的“红河”是指德克萨斯州的红河，所以1936年和1941年拍摄的与歌曲《红河谷》同名的美国影片，就是以德克萨斯州的红河为外景，并且把《红河谷》作为主题旋律贯串于整部影片。
