高一英语作文篇1

Life Is a Struggle

Life is a struggle. I shall never forget the most striking part of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow' s poem -- A Psalm of Life: "In the world's blood field of battle, In the bivouac of life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife!"

Ludwig van Beethoven was a typical "hero in the strife". He was not only one of the greatest composers, but also one of the most persevering men. As a deaf man, he went on working with his strong will in the last year of his life, though he was not able to hear his own fine and original music. Another example of persistence in struggle is Deng Yaping. She once said that her technique came from continuous training, emphasizing the importance of daily practice to a player. As a student, I seem to be in a boat sailiug against the current. I must make an effort to forge ahead. A little carelessness will result in being driven back. Indeed, learning is a struggle against idleness and carelessness. Following the examples of Ludwig van Beethoven and Deng Yaping, I shall take great pains to urge myself on, moving steadily forward like a heroic boatman in the rough sea of knowledge.

高一英语作文篇2

The Value of Time

Nobody knows what time is like, for we cannot see it, nor can we touch it. Time is abstract, which we can only imagine in our mind.

But we do know that time passes very quickly. Some students, however, do not know the value of time, nor do they know how to make the best use of it, for they waste it in going to films, playing games and doing other useless things. Why do we go to school early in the morning? Why do trains run so fast? Why do most people prefer taking buses instead of walking? The answer is very simple: we wish to save time because time is precious.

Today we are living in the twentieth century. We know that time is life.

When a person dies, his time has ended.Since life is short, we must devote our time and energy to our studies so that we may be able to serve our country and the people. But since time is invisible, we often neglect it. Lazinss. is the thief of time, for lasiness not only brings us a lot of harm, it also brings us failure. If it is necessary for us to do some work today, let us do it today and not leave it until tomorrow. Remember that time is more valuable than money.

高一英语作文篇3

Opportunity

The air we breathe is so freely available that we take it for granted. Yet without it we could not survive more than a few minutes. For the most part, the same air is available to everyone, and everyone needs it. Some people use the air to sustain them while they sit around and feel sorry for themselves. Others breathe in the air and use the energy it provides to make a magnificent life for themselves.

Opportunity is the same way. It is everywhere. Opportunity is so freely available that we take it for granted. Yet opportunity alone is not enough to create success. Opportunity must be seized and acted upon in order to have value. So many people are so anxious to "get in" on a "ground floor opportunity", as if the opportunity will do all the work. That's impossible. Just as you need air to breathe, you need opportunity to succeed. It takes more than just breathing in the fresh air of opportunity, however. You must make use of that opportunity. That's not up to the opportunity. That's up to you. It doesn't matter what "floor" the opportunity is on. What matters is what you do with it.

高一英语作文篇4

Nowadays,“generation gap”has gradually become a common phenomenon all over the world. Experiencing different time, as a result, causes the difference between parents and children in tastes, the method they deal with problems and values.

• This case may more easily happen in teenagers. The reason lies in they are young, they have strong passion for freedom, and they like showing themselves off. Then it is no wonder that arguments often arise between their parents and them, which always make the parents worried. They can hardly figure out what their children are thinking about. Because they wear strange clothes, listen noisy music and even walk around town with tattoos and pierces all over their bodies. Nevertheless, in teenager’ eyes, their parents are out of date and conservative. They may talk with their friends more often than their parents. In a word, ‘generation gap’ is an interminable problem.

Seriously, how to bridge the generation gap? In my opinion, first, show respect. The mutual respect can play an important role in avoiding conflicts. Second, listen more than talk. It’s no doubt that it is a very efficient way to keep the conversation longer. At last, keep humors, this can make the talk friendly.

Despite the fact that parents may be worried about the generation gap between their children and themselves. But as we all know, with time going by, children gradually grow old and ripe. And then they will come to understand their parents.
