Adventure happen in all parts of the world, even in the mostly unlikely places. In the moors of England, live a young farmer and his wife. They have a small farm with pigs, goats and some cows.

One morning when the wife went out to milk bessy the cow, she saw her lying in the hay looking sick. Bessy was pregnant. Bessy was going to give birth to her calf. There was a problem. The cow was in a lot of pain and the wife could see the baby calf kicking inside the mother. The calf was stuck!

What could she do to help! She pushed against the belly of the cow, thinking perhaps the pressure would squeeze the baby out like toothpaste from a tube. This caused more pain for the cow.

There was one thing the women could do. She rolled up her sleeves and put her arm inside the cow. She felt around for the baby. She felt its legs and then its head.

She grabbed the little calf's head and pulled it out. Soon, the calf was out of the mother and she was licking it tenderly. The wife told her husband all about her adventure that day.

A Salty Story

“I hereby depute you to handle my affairs during my absence,” announced my boss, as he handed me the keys.

“I know that with you at the helm, I won't need to worry about returning to a derelict business.

Whatever you do, don't let the stress derange your mind.”

“I'm already deranged, are you sure you want to designate me as your deputy?” I asked, deriding myself.

“Your attempt at derision will not deter me,” he replied with a laugh.

“You deserve the promotion.” He gave me a par on the back and descended he stairs.

“Wow, ”I said to myself.

“I can't believe he left me in control of this desalination plant.”

We use a special process in this plant to derive fresh water from salt water.

The derivative is good enough to drink, although I have heard some derogatory comments about the taste.

I have been told that I am a descendant of the person who came up with the idea for this process.

He was of British descent.

The story is that he ran out of water just after crossing a desert.

At the edge of the desert, he came across a deserted church.

There was no fresh water to be found, only a small well of salty desert water.

Desperate for drinking water, he used holy objects to make a simple desalination device.

The device was able to desiccate the salty water and to condense the moisture into drinkable water.

People say that God must have forgiven him for desecrating the holy objects.

I think so too.

No destination was too far.

Then he would have his designing chef create the most aesthetic and appetizing treats.

Because of his appetite for sweets, the King became very fat.

The King's physician often pleaded with him to desist from consuming sugar.

However, the King refused to listen.

His face fell into the dessert and he died.
