经典寓言故事:反裘负刍
Once on his outing trip, Wei Wenhou saw a farmer waking with a buddle of firewood on his back and wearing his fur-lined jacket inside out.
He asked the farmer, "Why do you wear your jacket inside out, carrying a bundle of wood?" "I like the furs of this jacket very much and I am afraid that the buddle may abrade the furs." The farmer answered.
"Don't you know that if the leather is damaged, how could the furs exist?" asked Wei Wenhou surprised.
魏文侯在出外游玩途中,看见一个农夫反穿皮袄,毛朝里,皮板朝外,肩上扛着一捆木柴在路上走.
就问他:“你为什么要反穿皮袄背柴呢?”农夫说:“我很喜欢这件毛衣的毛,担心柴草把它磨坏了。”
魏文侯惊讶地问:“你难道不知道如果皮被磨坏了,毛也不可能存在吗?”
经典寓言故事:社鼠
Duke Jing of the state of Qi discussed the general plans to govern the country with Yan Zi. Yan Zi believed they should get rid of the mice in the temple first.
The king could not understand him.
Then Yan Zi explained, "Then temple is made of wood, and walls are made by plastering the wood. So if there are mice inside, there is trouble. Of you want smoke out the mice, you are afraid of burning the wood, of you use water, you are afraid of damaging the wall. Caught in a dilemma, you can hardly get rid of the mice. The monarch's intimate ministers and servants are just like the mice in the temple, in the imperial court they would befuddle the king and outside the court they wouldbully and oppress the common people. If they are not gotten rid of, the country wil be unsettled. But it is very difficult to remove them, because they usually can get protection and pardon from the monarch."
齐景公和晏子探讨治国才略。晏子认为首先必须除去土地庙中的老鼠。
齐景公对晏子的说法不理解。
晏子就解释说:“土地庙是由木头捆扎而成,木头柱子抹上泥巴就是墙壁,只要里面有老鼠,麻烦就来了。用烟火熏,怕烧着了木头;用水灌,又怕冲坏了墙壁,左右为难,不可能把老鼠消灭。国君宠幸的近臣、侍从也类似土地庙的老鼠,他们对内蒙蔽国君,对外欺压百姓,不除掉他们,国家就有可能被搅乱;而除掉他们又很难,因为他们往往能得到国君给予的保护和赦免。”
经典寓言故事:分定不争
A wild hare was running in the field and behind it more than a hundred people were chasing it.
It was not because that the hare could be divided into a hundred portions but the ownership of the hare was not decided.
When a lot of hares were piled in the market, the passers -- by would not even loot at them. It was not because that people did not want to get them, but those hares already had their owner, and the ownership had been decided. As far as the administration of a country is concerned, the key is to make laws and regulations, establish clear ownership.
一只兔子在野地里跑,后面常有百多人追逐。
这并不是因为这只兔子可以分成一百份,每人可得一份,而是因为兔子的所有权没有确定。
当许多兔子堆积在市场上时,路过的行人之所以看也不看,也不是因为人们不愿意得到兔子,而是因为这种兔子已经有了主人,所有权已经确定。仅就治理天下和国家而言,关键在于制定法令,确定名份。
